St. John Vianney Theological Seminary Launches .Edu Web Site

By: Art Penz

St. John Vianney Theological Seminary (SJV) has launched an all new .edu web site in conjunction with their accreditation by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) in the United States and Canada. SJV exists to form men from the Roman Catholic priesthood in the Archdiocese of Denver, and supports formation of the lay in the Catholic faith, through multiple educational resources.

SJV was officially started in 1999, and has grown from it’s humble roots (about us) to now support an integrated educational and spiritual formation for our growing Catholic community. In addition to supporting the complete formation process for priests and deacons, the seminary also supports the Catholic Biblical School and the Catechetical School to continue in the tradition of educating our lay community.

In keeping with tradition, but recognizing the available technology, the Seminary offers both a traditional blend of classroom instruction, and utilizes the full extent of the world wide web, to offer multimedia content in the form of both video and pod cast access to materials, equipping our young men and women to meet fully the challenges of ministering to the community.

As a Seminary, St. John Vianney, today is ranked in the top 10 in the entire nation, out of more than 170 other dioceses. Father Jim Crisman, Denver's current director of priestly vocations, believes that the archdiocese's success in attracting new seminarians is largely a result of all the prayers and the work of Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. "What Archbishop Chaput has done for the archdiocese is encourage a healthy Catholic environment that supports the various and diverse forms of genuine Catholic piety and spirituality...He had highlighted the importance of marriage and family life in the diocese, and spent much capital in support of our Catholic schools."
