Landscaping: A Creative Profession

By: David Faulkner

Landscaping in general is making changes or improving a piece of land. By combining plants or by synthetic construction and any other modifications to indoor or outdoor area is typically known as landscaping.

There are numerous concepts by which the designer or the artists craft their designs. The designs which are more often implemented are on water formation or in rock form and then the plants are put together to balance off the architecture.

Things To Be Taken In Account Before The Landscaping

Concern For The Natural Habitat

Earlier than setting off with the landscape project, things that one should keep in his mind on which both artist and owner must agree upon. Firstly the impact of landscaping on the existing area, where landscaping is taking place. If the area is inhibited by many species of creatures, their protection should be the main concern. On the other hand if the area to be implemented is a small territory then the owner and the artist must have no difficulty on getting to the point of working.

Suitability Of Plants For A Specific Region

Another major consideration which should be taken in account is that weather the plantation chosen is suitable for the specific area. In this task these steps are necessary to meet the desires of the landscaping firstly there will be some excavation and even some additional soil would be put up to form out the design. The plantation has to be chosen carefully as if the final outcome is of a rock garden or of a pool. Appropriate plants can be taken from the nurseries, plant sales outlets or from other garden centers.

Things Needed For Plantation and Their Source

Furthermore it should be checked that the irrigation source is close to plantation for their upcoming requirements and type of soil, rocks, gravel and other things required for their growth and stability. Some designers keep the area in its natural look but some supplement structures (weather natural or synthetic) to make it look more attractive. Natural landforms are harder to landscape than constructing the whole area.

The Look of the implemented Landscaped Area

The new inaugurated design of the landscape should look near to the nature as the landscape will not work, as it will look as it is enforced in to the area. Time required in the whole procedure of landscaping takes days or even some weeks; this depends upon the nature and size of the area. Until the plants have become accustomed to the area and the new look of the rocks (which have been put in) have lost their fancy look, the work will not be valued.

Artificial Objects Inserted in the Landscaped Area

Designers may put in artificial structures in the area to enhance the beauty of the landscape. They may include summer-house, tower or fountains etc these type of man-made structure do not usually interfere with the natural look. Landscaping is not a problem to the nature as long as it do not hinder with the architecture of the area and with the plants.
