BeSpecial.ro changes its color scheme for the men’s jewelry section

Considering the growth of the masculine jewelry segment, BeSpecial has changed its background color into black for the men’s jewelry section.

We hoped that this little graphic change would provide our visitors from the masculine segment with a better and more enjoyable shopping experience during their navigation through the categories and subcategories of men’s jewelry section.

Based on preliminary findings of surveys conducted over the last three months, we noticed that men were actually scared by the pink background of our online shop and did not dwell on the site for too long (the bounce rate was pretty high to be honest). Furthermore, men did not even get to men’s jewelry section of our site as they believed our online shop is dedicated to women jewelry (thus, in most cases, they did not get to see the men products which might have kept them on the site for longer)

After changing the men’s jewelry section into black we have noticed that the bounce rate has diminished significantly and orders of men jewelry have surged, which is a confirmation that our measure was inspired. The rationale behind our measure was the fact that the landing page of men on our website was the main page of the men’s jewelry section.

Of course, we will not confine ourselves to this measure, and we are already planning to allow our customers to chose their preferred color scheme that will remain set for all pages of our online shop until the session is ended (currently, just the pages in the men’s jewelry section have black background, the rest having pink background).

We are now surveying our customers on how helpful would be the possibility for them to choose their preferred color scheme and what colors we should include in the option list. So far, most liked colors for the masculine segment are: black, dark gray, gray, dark green, green, dark blue and blue. Apparently, men do not like to shop from online shops strongly targeted towards women, even when they purchase women jewelry as gifts for their wives or girls friends. A more neutral online shop, with less feminine colors or design elements, seems to be more likely to attract men and get them launch an order.

We will get back with the final survey results as soon as they are ready and we will share with you further changes that we will apply and their effects on sales and traffic.
