Bathroom Accessories, what is the trend in the markets?

By: CHS Limited

MARKET REVIEW 2003-2007:

In 2007, the UK market for bathroom equipment is believed to have increased by 7% to £2567 million at RSP, consolidating the trend for growth evident prior to that. Indeed, year on year growth was reported between 2003 and 2006 although growth rates moderated from 15% and 17% in 2003 and 2004 respectively to relatively more moderate increases of 6% and 8% in the following two years. This is believed to be a reflection of slower growth in the UK construction market and the impact of interest rate increases. DIY activity, has also been affected in recent years with major stores reporting declining sales in the repair, maintenance and improvement sectors during 2006. However, MBD believe that new construction activity and moderate home improvement projects continue to be key factors in the upward trend in the value of the bathroom equipment market.

MARKET FORECAST 2007-2011:

MBD has revised downwards its forecast for the UK bathroom equipment market. Moderate growth is projected in 2008 reflecting the anticipated decline in consumer confidence. Stronger growth is expected in the following years with the value of the market reaching an estimated £3227 million in 2012 (at 2007 prices). Key factors influencing the market include the strength of the new build sector with a target of two million new homes to be built by 2016. Construction in the public non residential sector is also projected to be a driver of the market. For example, the Building Schools for the Future programme will entail refurbishing or rebuilding every secondary school to 21st century standards over the next ten to fifteen years, driving demand for bathroom equipment, especially in the toiletware/sanitaryware and bathroom accessories sectors.

Although the market conditions at the moment is quite bad there are two types of companies who will survive and be able to increase their profits, these are the cheapest and most expensive ones in other words cheap bathroom accessory sellers and very expensive bathroom accessories sellers like designer etc. as these two types has 0 elascticity...

Lets wait and see where will this take us...
