Of course you have heard that in order to get six pack abs quick, you need to lower your body fat percentage; even as low as 8%. But, did you know getting a six pack is as much a "mental" process as it is an "action" process?

As you read every word of this article, you'll discover a three mental tips you can begin using right away to increase your chances of getting those six pack abs you hoped for. These methods might seem overly simple but trust me...they are rarely used.

For starters, the first thing you are going to want to do is assess your current situation. Be honest with yourself about where you are right now. And, more importantly, get very clear and specific on what you would like to accomplish.

For example: Simply stating "I'd like to lose some weight" is way too general. Try to imagine in your mind's eye losing "some weight." What does it look like? If you're like most people, you probably have a difficult time thinking in such "general" terms.

Instead, let's get this down to some very specific numbers. A better example might be, "After 90 days I want my body-fat percentage to be 14% or less."

Isn't that much easier to imagine? Not only that but it's something you can actually measure. "Some weight" is impossible to measure. And as such you are likely to get discouraged because you will have no idea if you're winning or losing.

The next very simple thing you can do is take a look at what behaviors you need to change in order to accomplish your goal. Knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently?

Examples may include: smoking, drinking, eating or drinking refined sugar, etc.

This is another extremely valuable tool because it starts getting your mind to recognize what it's been doing wrong. You can make the necessary adjustments afterward.

Lastly, identify the reasons "why" you want to make this happen. This technique is powerful above all else. The key to doing this effectively is to make sure your reasons are deeply personal. Don't just write something like "I want to be healthier." Once again, that is too general.

Instead really do a deep dive into "why" you want to be healthier. Is it so you can be a good example for your kids? Is it so you can be more attractive for your mate? The best underlying reasons for doing something are the ones that are intensely personal to you.
