This article is about probably the most beloved pieces of jewels known to man - the ring. Almost each person I do know loves rings, whether or not they are wedding rings, pinky rings, engagement rings or simply fashionable rings. Rings have always been a huge part of our society. They are used for engagements and weddings. Also they are used to show social position. Rings are manufactured from every material conceivable and are worn by roughly every culture in the world. So we may not share loads of cultural ties amongst the many nations but we do share our love of rings.

Rings are in our blood and they are everywhere you look. They've been found amongst the ancient civilizations of the Egyptians, Sumerians and even North and Central American. Most of those rings have held particular sacred or social import as they do in contemporary times.

Rings became trendy in Europe during the medieval period. They were worn by almost one and all and the material used in making the ring signified the social status and prosperity of the person. It was during this time that rings got connected with superstition and magic. Some rings were attributed to be the favorite of a certain God subject to which substance or stone they were made from and were also purported to assist in certain aspects of the wearer's life for instance love, agriculture or war.

As an Asian, I can certainly tell you that where I come from rings have always been a huge deal. These are affiliated with magical properties, gurus and astrologers. Many superstitious people go to these astrologers to solve some problem in their lives. The problem may very well be related to money, love, standing, careers or business. The astrologer will study their birth charts and come up with a reason why the planetary alignments are messing up these folks's lives and then he will will prescribe some ring with a particular stone to counteract the ill effects from the bad planets.

Rings have also been part of great stories. The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien is among the greatest stories ever told. In this book, the ring has magical powers that shape the lives of virtually every character. Among the reasons why rings are amazing to people is due to very shape of the object. Most certainly round and connected and almost signifies the nature of the universe and our lives.

Ring will always be a huge part of our earth. Nowadays, rings are used for engagements and weddings. They are used to signify love and attachment. They are used to bind two people together. Rings are great metaphors for life and give us hope and strength by reminding us the life is not linear but cyclical.
