I guess not a single individual exists who does not know about democracy. The term democracy relates to those countries where people are fully authorized to choose electives or representatives to govern over them and Mexico is one of those countries. Like in any other country elections are held here in the similar fashion as well. It was about two weeks back when on 4th of July the Mexican democratic stand took a step forward towards its failure.
Veracruz is known to be the third most populated state of the Mexican country. The fight was for the election of Governor of this state .
Due to many electoral related problems being faced by the Mexican country a system named PREP (program of electoral preliminary results) was introduced so as to bring consistency in the electoral process and to receive the better and faster results in real time. Verification of results by the electors was another main assumption of this program of electoral preliminary results denoted by PREP. But people no more believe into any PREP program as they have declared it as a program which runs on the basis of errors and inconsistencies and has nothing to do with the actual and true results. This fact has been accounted for in a new and very popular website www.xalapa.mx where citizens are given the chance of commenting about the most important subjects affecting the live of the people of Veracruz.
Since the arrival of PREP program into the democracy a lot many common errors have been viewed. While electing for the Governor of the state the total number of ballot boxes were around 9827 in number out of which 1612 boxes had nothing to display in the system. This is not all we had; another 384 ballot boxes that were blank. The sum of ballot boxes with errors goes to 1996 which is almost 20% of the total ballot boxes. The shocking news was to see the PREP system reporting 96% of the ballot boxes to be correct despite of the failure of 20% ballot boxes to be included in the counting.
The most shocking part for Veracruz State in Mexican country is that one can’t blame any individual to be responsible for it and why should we blame anyone when we have PREP system existing between us as the major error. So the PREP system that has been introduced with a positive approach to lead Mexican country and its states on the path of democracy has failed to do so. The current status is that the reusults from elections for the Governor of the state will be delayed until November 2010 and further actions would be taken after official resolution has been passed by the federal tribunal electoral of the country. On the other hand the latest news from the part of media is that they have referred PRI candidate to be elected the Governor this time as well.
