Reasons Why You Are Still Single

We would just like to say right at the outset that being single isn't necessarily a bad thing…provided it is your choice to remain single. There are many people out there who feel that being alone is in the best of their interests right now, although that situation may change in the near future. If you feel that you want to be in a relationship however, and find yourself woefully single, perhaps it may be time to look at the reasons for you being so.

Now the point of this article isn't to put the finger of blame on yourself or to dwell on your shortcomings, but rather to make a thorough and honest assessment of yourself in order to pinpoint the areas in which you need to improve if you are to attract a potential partner. Being honest is particularly important here, as there is just as much a risk of downplaying your faults as there is of selling yourself short. What you hopefully want to achieve in this process of self-assessment is to strike a balance between building up your strengths and addressing your shortcomings.

Okay, with that out of the way, the next thing you have to ask yourself is: what exactly are you looking for in a mate? Are you in search of a serious partner with whom you could share the rest of your life with, or are you simply interested in someone you can hang out with? Depending on your chosen type of partner, you may want to rethink the places where you look for potential mates. There is certainly nothing wrong with hanging out at bars and clubs and meeting people that way–if you do so responsibly–but you do have to realize that such places aren't necessarily the best choices for finding a long-term relationship partner. If your goals for a potential partner don’t fit in with your usual haunts, it may be time to reconsider other venues.

You should also consider the possibility that you may be too stringent in your criteria. Now, we aren't saying that you should just settle for any guy that shows the slightest interest in you, nor are we suggesting that you give up the ideals that are so important to you just so you could land a mate. However, you should open yourself up to relaxing some of your more stringent standards a bit in order to have more options. Not everyone is perfect of course, and having unreasonably high expectations of everyone is a good way to stay single.

As you can see, the reasons for remaining single are varied and complex, and they often involve a lot more than your fashion sense and your personal habits, although these and other factors do play a role. If there is one thing that you should draw from this article it is this: make a thorough assessment of yourself and your requirements in a potential partner, and you will be that much closer to finding the ideal mate.
