The trolling method is otherwise called 'long lining'. It is widely used by many fishers around the world. The vessels used in this method are 80 to 200 feet ships. You should use baits and hooks, mainlines and branched lines and lures. In general, long lining method is used to catch albacore variety of tuna fish that is quite large and weigh about 20 to 40 pounds.
The third most popular method used for tuna fishing is the Pole and Line method and in this method also, the success of the techniques used are dependent upon baits and hooks. The vessels used in this method are 25 to 90 feet. Eight to twelve lines with the required lures and baited hooks are used in this method. Haulers or fishers pull the lines into the vessel. The tuna fish that is caught is immediately taken off the hook and should be stored in the freezer. In this method also, albacores are the mostly caught variety.
