Choosing a guitar can be a daunting prospect, particularly if you are looking to purchase for the very first time.
Is there truly a greatest beginner guitar?
First you have to choose What Type of Guitar you would like to understand.
Do you would like to perform Acoustic Guitar?
Learn Electrical Guitar?
or perform Bass Guitar?
These questions can be answered by looking at the kind of music you would like to play on your guitar.
I'm taking a wild guess but I suspect that most of you available wish to play either the electrical bass or the electric guitar. Hopefully several of you'll choose the acoustic guitar, as I believe it is a beautiful instrument that deserves to be a lot more widely played. It is also a great instrument to start beginners on, as no matter how loud you perform an acoustic guitar the neighbours aren't going to ask you to MOVE!!:)
How Old Do You Have to Be to Start the Guitar?
You're able to start your kid pretty early about the guitar as you are able to get 1/2 scale (that's half the size of a normal guitar) (up to 6 years) or 3/4 scale guitars (up to 10-12 years).
Just remember that if they're starting very young (5-8 years old) they'll have to begin on an acoustic with nylon strings. You truly don't want your young child to come to you with bleeding hands from playing on metal strings!
Expenses?
For an acoustic guitar you are searching at $80- upwards
For an electric guitar it is from $120 - upwards
For an electrical bass it is around $120 - upwards
When you are looking to purchase any kind of guitar there are some important facts you need to bear in mind.
1. You need to make sure you're comfortable using the instrument. Most with the time guitars in the store are not 'set up' correct, meaning that the neck is probably bent slightly and how the strings are too high or too low about the fretboard, making it feel uncomfortable to you.
However, you might be actively playing a Great instrument if it's set up right, so my advice is go to a number of shops and play the same guitar. If this isn't possible, and you're seriously thinking about purchasing the instrument, tell this to the shop guy and ask him to 'set it up' for you. Most stores will do this, though some might not.
2. Make sure the electronics are all working,
three. How the neck is straight and above all that you really feel a 'connection' with the guitar.
4. You also have to make certain that you buy within your cost range, set yourself a limit and do not go over it.
5. I would not advise buying second-hand from eBay without really seeing and actively playing the instrument.
Strings
Needless to say all guitars require a set of strings but how often do you need to alter them?
Acoustic Guitar
Whenever you change strings is dependent upon how frequently you perform, your actively playing style, your care with the strings, and also the effect your hands have about the strings. The short answer to this question is between 15 to 30 hours of perform! Here's why: As you perform, the strings will collect dirt and oils from your hands. This causes the strings to turn out to be dead and to vibrate unevenly along their length (also causing tuning problems). Dirt and oils get into the windings and down inside towards the core of the strings where it can trigger corrosion of the core. If your hands are dirty or if your hands perspire when you perform, this will shorten the string life. Wiping the strings off each time you're finished playing will assist prolong their existence. Also should you bend strings or perform difficult this will cause flat spots on the strings particularly at the fret locations, shortening their life.
