Fun things to do in San Diego are endless. Known as a premier Southern California vacation hotspot, San Diego offers an abundance of entertainment and sports activities for families, children or young adults.

The climate in San Diego is pretty darn perfect year round.Keep in mind that San Diego does experience what the locals call "June Gloom", which is a thick marine layer along the coastline, but if it's too grey for a day at the beach, just drive a mile or two inland for the sun.

When folks think of San Diego, they think of the beach. San Diego boasts some of Southern California's most gorgeous beaches. Some favorite beaches are La Jolla Shores, Coronado Beach, Mission Beach, Cardiff and Carlsbad beach. Paddle boards, surf boards, kayaks, sailboats, bicycles, roller blades and strollers are available for rent at most of the nearby beaches. The sandy beaches are perfect for families and sandcastle building.

If you are looking for entertainment attractions, check out the world renowned San Diego Zoo. It is one of the largest zoos in on earth with nine different animal zones and home to over 4,000 birds and animals and more than 800 species. It is also an accredited botanical garden that offers a profusion of more than 6,500 species of exotic plants. Guided tours are provided or you may prefer to wander around the massive park by foot to take in all of the stunning scenery. You can witness the feeding rituals for the big cats, panda bears and more.

The zoo is located in the middle of the amazing Balboa Park. Sprawling over 1,200 acres, Balboa Park plays hosts to 15 museums, recreation areas, a giant organ pavilion, theaters and gardens. The beautiful Spanish Colonial buildings, that now house the amazing museums, were originally constructed for the 1915-1916 Panama- California Exposition - celebrating the opening of the Panama Canal. Especially on the weekends the park is very popular for picnicking, outdoor concerts, athletic endeavors, wedding photos, and dog walks.

Of course, we can't forget to mention the world famous SeaWorld Water Park, home to Shamu the Killer Whale. Since the early 1960's, SeaWorld has transformed itself from a modest attraction into an internationally known park sheltering more than 12,000 marine and aquatic animals. More than half a dozen shows and 20 watery attractions showcase the splendor and infinite variety of the world's oceans. You can devote a full day exploring all of the different fascinating creatures of the sea. There are plenty of water exhibits, such as the Wild Arctic and the Penguin Encounter attractions and thrill rides, such as Shipwreck Rapids and the Atlantis water coaster ride. SeaWorld also boasts a large play area, called Shamu's Happy Harbor, which is perfect for small children. Besides being a world class entertainment park, SeaWorld also provides animal rescue and rehabilitation and saves about 100 creatures every year.

Another unique and popular attraction is the San Diego Wild Animal Park, located on 1,800 acres of rolling grassland near Escondido. When the animal residences of the San Diego Zoo became too large for the Zoo to accommodate them, a new location was discovered that allowed more room to where the animals could roam in large enclosures similar to their natural surroundings. The Wild Animal Park has an uncanny likeness to the East African savanna. After 30 years, the park now harbors more than 3,500 rare and exotic animals from 400 species. You'll want to spend an entire day exploring the many wonders the park has to offer like the Nairobi Village, Lion Camp, Gorilla Forest, Elephant Valley, just to name a few. Like the Zoo, the Wild Animal Park is a host to a number of animal shows and exhibits and is a perfect destination for the entire family.

Legoland theme park is fun for kids of all ages. It's amazing to see just what can be constructed out of Legos! Play with and build legos or wander the park and take a ride on the Lego bus. Kids can get their drivers license after practicing on the Lego Land Volvo driving school and race track. Legoland is just north of San Diego and is a wonderful way to spend the day.

Coronado Island, right over the bridge from San Diego, is a beautiful destination area with exquisite dining, abundance of boutique shops and fine accommodations. Be sure to visit Hotel Del Coronado, which was often used as a movie location and is said to be haunted!Drive south from Hotel Del Coronado you'll continue on a road that stretches 6 miles called Silver Strand. There are a number of places to ride bikes, surf and have picnics on the beach.

Nightlife is not to be left out while you are visiting. The San Diego nightlife scene has some of the most diverse, classy, hippest and trendiest places around. Whether you're in the mood for socializing, hanging out, having a few cocktails or dancing the night away, you will not be disappointed. Make sure to check out the Gas Lamp district downtown where there are abundant restaurants and you can walk from night club to night club during your visit to San Diego.

Unless you are looking for snow, San Diego has more variety for entertainment and things to do than any other vacation destination. Year round, San Diego is a wonderful place to live and visit.
