We are smack in the middle of one of the worst economies this country has seen in a long time. As a result, the number of people willing to pay $60, $80, or more for a day ski ticket is rapidly shrinking. Fortunately, realizing this, more ski resorts are incentivized to find ways of offering deals to potential customers in order to attract them to their resorts. If you love to ski, but are tired of paying some of the exorbitant fees, here are some of the most common ways save money on your next ski trip.

We are all getting older. And, for once, that may be a good thing when it comes to saving money on the ski slopes. Every year, a larger portion of the citizenry is approaching or achieving the age of retirement. And, if you happen to fall into this demographic, a number of resorts will be happy to give you a senior citizens discount price on lift tickets, rooms, and other amenities. Assuming that is, if you are not overly embarrassed to take advantage of the offer. Unfortunately, there is no standard resort definition of what constitutes a senior - so you will have to ask. A number of will give the discount to anyone over 55 years of age. While others require you be at least sixty. Assuming that you qualify, however, you can come away with some really decent deals. Be sure, however, to bring some identification to prove how old you are.

In many ways, the worst time to go skiing is over the weekends. Huge crowds, long ski lift lines, crowded hotels are what you are in for when skiing on weekends. And, to top it off, this is when all of the prices are higher as well. If you can simply change your ski schedule to ski during the week, you will find that all of your ski related costs drop dramatically. Not only that, but you will actually get more skiing in due to the shorter lift lines.

Is there one place, in particular, that you just love to visit for your skiing? If so, you may have a couple of options. Many ski resorts are now offering ski discount cards. Most of these cards give you great price breaks on all ski related activities.

But, the resorts have often arranged with local vendors for you to have discounts at their establishments as well. So, in addition to skiing cheaper, the card will get you discounts at local restaurants, pubs, clothing shops, and the like. If such a card is too expensive, you can still save money on the slopes by purchasing season lift ticket passes.

Lastly, you can get some truly great deals if you are willing to wait towards the end of the ski season to hit the slopes. This is the time when you will often get some really great discounts on rooms and lift passes. As the season winds down, most resort managers will basically take any business that comes their way at a greatly reduced price.
