What makes a great community playground? Playgrounds need to be invigorating enough to keep kids of all ages entertained, and that includes you Mom and Dad! Commercial play sets need to have features that can be fun for your kids, while remaining safe enough for your peace of mind. Here's some things that can be found on playgrounds in Raleigh that are both fun and safe.
Slides – Slides are a traditional part of any playground. Kids love sliding down them and getting a thrill out of feeling like they're flying. No matter what age, children can find ways to find a slide entertaining. Toddlers will want you to catch them at the bottom for hours if you'll let them. Older kids will find a sense of adventure in successfully climbing up them. Thankfully community playgrounds have multiple slides of different sizes, so all kids can find the one that fits their age group and won't get bored.
Swings – Another traditional part of commercial play sets are swings. And again swings can be fun for any age. For small kids they have safety seats that will keep your toddler safe while they reach for the sky. There are regular swings that allow older kids to compete to see who can swing the highest or jump the farthest. Additionally tire swings allow multiple kids to play all at once and spin around as fast as they can.
Jungle Gyms and Monkey Bars – Some kids would say that these two playground features offer the greatest challenges. Making it all the way across Monkey Bars without help from a parent provides one of the biggest feelings of accomplishment a playground can bring. Monkey Bars also provide the opportunity for kids to try out a variety of gymnastics (with proper parental supervision!). Similarly, Jungle Gyms provide kids with the opportunity to face the fears of heights and see how high they can climb. Jungle Gyms can be transformed into magnificent castles and forts for games of pretend played by younger kids, and can serve as the base in games of capture the flag played by older kids.
Great playgrounds will have more features than these, but these are the classics that can be found at almost any playground in Raleigh. Additional features that can be found are firemen poles, zip lines, and climbing walls. No matter what age range, these features will allow kids to test themselves and have fun while doing so.
