Would Novice Road Users Require Motor Insurance?

While in other countries driving lessons on public roads are only allowed under the supervision of a professional driving instructor and no insurance is required for the learner drivers, the US legislation gives learning drivers the possibility to take lessons from a friend or a parent. It is a considerable advantage, since driving lessons are quite expensive. However, in this case, learner driver car insurance is indeed required.

Since the experience and skills of a learner driver are limited and the odds of accidents to occur are higher, some insurance companies refuse to provide such policies, while others offer them for considerably high prices. There are also companies that cover only one third of the eventual damages. No one likes to think about having an accident, but since the insurance is a necessity, why not have it cover any unfortunate events. As a result, many people prefer to turn to driving schools.

Besides acquiring professional services, they no longer have to worry about the learner driver car insurance, as driving school cars are already insured. By subscribing to such a school, you could save the value of the insurance policy. However, the total costs often exceed 1,000 $, and the money you save by not getting an insurance policy will under no circumstances cover the lessons you need.

Another option is to register as a learner driver on your parents' policy, so you can ask your parents to contact their insurance broker and request your registration and adding the new clause to their policy. It is unfortunately possible for the insurance company not to accept the terms. Also, such an action would limit your learning possibilities to one car.

In the end, you probably agree that the most viable option is to get a learner driver car insurance on your own name.

Thus, when you've already got your learner's permit, you can start hunting for the best insurance offers, compare quotes and choose whatever suits you best.

There is one aspect you should keep in mind, namely that, once you get your driver license, the insurance will no longer be valid, and you will have to get a young driver car insurance.

Therefore, try to set your objectives and work hard to accomplish them within the date set. There is no use to pay for learner insurance once you no longer need it, or to let the period expire before getting your driver license.
