Solar panels, also called photovoltaic panels are the best way to reduce the electric bills, lowering dependence on fossil fuels. Not only solar panels save you electric bills, you can even sell the excess power you make to the private groups, they even add more value to your building or home where you're installing the panels.

There are 3 types of solar panels, as the technology is persistently improving and many new types of solar cells are invented, here are the main difference between them :-

1. Mono Crystalline – Also known as Single crystalline are basically considered as the most efficient ones. The only main difference between them and the other types of panels is that these single crystalline solar panels are made from one large chunk of silicon crystal. The making of these large silicon crystals is a very time consuming and energy demanding, that adds to the final solar system cost. Now here's the best fact, these panels can last from 25 to 50 years, so they are a good long term investment and it's for sure that you won't regret it. Mono crystalline solar panels are the best for longevity, efficiency and performance, only negative point is that they are costly than other types of solar panels.

2. Polycrystalline – As the name indicates, polycrystalline is made up of multiple silicon crystals. They usually come in beautiful dark blue color. Polycrystalline solar panels are one of the cheapest and widely found panels in the market today. Polycrystalline are great alternative to mono crystalline cells. These types of solar panels are widely used in house, buildings etc. But you must know that polycrystalline are designed to work at a cooler temperature. They are the best choice if you want to use them in your households as they are cheaper and efficient.

3. Amorphous – They are newest types of solar cells available in market. They can be used to produce electricity in a way which even crystalline technology couldn't. In these cells the silicon is deposited in a very thin layer onto a backing substrate. Although making them is a bit complicated, they consume less time but are expensive to make but they produce good energy with better efficiency. They are quite flexible, all because of the thin layers of silicon. However they have drawbacks as well, they are only 5-6% efficient which isn't much for a potential solar system installation for your home. They can be used for attachments such as, attachable to handbags, e-readers, i-pads etc. These are the most common types of solar cells available in the market, having proven their reliability along the way.

Except these 3 are commonly used solar cells, but there are a whole lot of other solar cells technologies. For example there are group III-V technologies which are Very expensive, they are mostly used in aerospace. They have string ribbon photovoltaic cells, which are continuously evolving with technological advancements. They use lenses to gather sunlight into concentrated form to increase solar cell efficiency.
