You do not have to spend too much just to feel the Christmas season. There are cheap ideas to give your home the Christmas spirit without having to spend an arm and a leg.
Don't throw last year's greeting cards yet - You can use them in different ways. For example, they can be posted on a board as a Christmas artwork. That's one way to remind you of the people who remembered you last Christmas. You can even hang the cards on the Christmas tree and that would save you from having to buy a lot of ornaments. Think of other creative ways to make use of these old Christmas cards.
Go for natural ornaments - You don't have to rush to the shopping center to grab one of those pine trees to use for the holidays. Go out and you might see evergreen branches with pinecones and berries. The only things you will have to buy are ribbons and lanterns. Recycle old lights and ornaments, too.
Place cranberries in long transparent vases - You see, there are different cost-free ways to decorate your home this coming holiday season. If you don't have those tubular vases, you can get empty wine bottles and place cranberries inside them. You can place a ribbon around them or rub a green cloth around the base of the bottles. You may also set them on a table covered in ornate fabric.
There's more for bottles - So don't throw wine bottles or fruit juice bottles right away because they can be recycled creatively. For the holidays, you can coat these bottles with Christmas colors (red and green) and you can use them as vases where you can put twigs or flowers or even candles. These ornaments can be placed on your dining table or living room center tables. You can also fill clear bottles with colored water and then put candles to float on the colored water for some incredible ornament in your home. You can also put flower petals for added effect.
Recycle Christmas ribbons from last year - In fact, stuff you used last year can still be used as long as they are in good condition. If you have kept the holiday ribbons you used last Christmas, you can take them out. Well, you can still use them to decorate your Christmas trees or doors or even your lamp shade. There are plenty of objects where you can place these ribbons on.
Look for nice twigs and branches outdoors - You don't have to buy decorations for Christmas when they could come for free. Paint these twigs with silver or gold and place them in a vase or in one of those empty wine bottles. They can actually look elegant.
Turn greenery into Christmas garlands - Instead of buying Christmas garlands at the store, just go outside and find evergreens. Bend them into a circle and then tie the edges using a ribbon and this can be hung on your door or wall. You can also lay it flat on the table with a candle in the center for some accentuation. Just make sure you don't go collecting foliage from the neighbor's garden.
Make use of empty glass jars - Just like empty wine bottles, these seemingly useless objects can be used to hold candies and chocolates. Place it on a table with a ribbon around it. You can place three or more glass jars on side tables and tie a combination of red and green ribbons around. Aside from sweets, pebbles or stones can be placed inside these empty jars.
You probably have your own ideas. Do not be scared to experiment ways to decorate your home this Christmas without having to spend a lot.
