Many people who grew up watching westerns have carried the imagery through with them to this day. They imagine cowboys in the full costume- western wear as defined by history and a little more by Hollywood. And, while it's not exactly inaccurate, you could at the very least say that the Hollywood depiction is somewhat out of date- especially when your realize just how many different directions and interpretations of movies within the western genre there are. What are today's cowboys really looking like? Well, that is actually pretty easy to find out. Simply check out events likely to attract a lot of western folks and check out their western wear- and particularly their cowboy boots. Rodeos, for example, will give you a broad range to look at, from working cowboys to wealthy businessmen who haven't forgotten their western roots (or at least their western style).

When looking at the range of items offered in western wear, from formal dresses and suits to functional working wear, it's easy to see how the style has adapted to being more than just for riders on the trail. Take cowboy boots, for example, you've got boots that are found by the dozen in basic cowhide leather with slight variations in shaping, but easily recognizable as the same type of boot. Then you get variations that are often the color and type of leather, stitch patterns, inlays and other decorative options. As the price of the boot increases you will see more in the way of exotic leathers, including ostrich, snakeskin and several more. The one variation of the shaping of cowboy boots is that of roper boots, which were developed for, you guessed it, rodeo ropers who needed to be able to dismount and run with ease. This was in the tradition of western wear, creating functional and durable apparel, so a more specific boot was made for the ropers.

Western wear is unlike other riding wear that you'll see in the U.S. for one main reason- it was born here, bred here, and it hasn't changed much since its conception. The demands of the gear have changed only in that the long-term stays out of doors are no longer required to get the job of moving cattle done. Riders still deal with hazards such as rocks, snakes, fences and so on. Stirrups are still being made the same and the pointed toe and stacked heel of the cowboy boot provides stability and ease for the rider. And, of course, the culture that has come up around western apparel is strong and thriving. Not only is their history part of their past, but it is very much a part of their present. So, even as times change and you can buy cowboy boots online and have them shipped anywhere in the country (or in the world) the point, really, is that they are readily available, and often still worn for the purpose for which they were designed. But the remarkable thing about cowboy boots is their popularity outside of the western community- even becoming a classic fashion item. Finding a pair of cowboy boots in an urban environment has become easier than one could have ever imagined- including retail shoe stores across the country. You can pair cowboy boots with almost any wardrobe with very little effort- whether you add any additional western elements is up to you. The variety of western apparel and particularly cowboy boots is almost limitless- with the different leathers, colors, designs, stitching and custom boot makers willing to push the style boundaries with custom designs there really are a pair of cowboy boots for everyone.
Author Resource:- Though not intentionally inaccurate, Hollywood's cowboys are a bit out of date. However you only need to watch a rodeo to get a grip on the western wear and cowboy of today. Rodeos are becoming one of the most popular spectator sports- going from small, regional outdoor venues to indoor air conditioned arenas. The rodeo is a great place to see the variety of western wear that is available today- from the traditional functional western apparel and cowboy boots to the ornate and intricately decorated western wear outfits- in the crowd and in the competition.hostgator coupon code
